Default Surreal Concept

My Piece of Heaven

Camera: Nikon D60
Exposure: 0.05 sec (1/20)
Aperture: f/5.0
Focal Length: 18 mm
Focal Length In35mm Format: 27 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Flash: No Flash

Need a comment on composition, please. There was more of image on the bottom side, but I cropped it to the terrace wall line, to emphasize the lines that form the inner square... Anything else you think I should know would be appreciated, all suggestions and tips...

I know I went a little bit too far with B&W conversion (Gimp, Gegl / c2g), and now it looks somewhat surreal / charcoal drawing, but I kind a like it... I don't know. Cold weather is killing my creativity

I think that you taking it a bit too far is the reason I like it so much. It looks like a dream.
I even like how the angle of the top and right side lines make it feel like it's moving.
Sorry I don't have any tips for you, but it look great.

Thanx. I guess it would be just plain view from a terrace if not for surreal glow... Or maybe it would not?

I actually love this because the way I interpret this photo is like "witnessing the end of the world" type scenario. Sometimes taking things too far is good

Thank you for the comment. Apparently I am not the only one who likes it as it is...

What if you confined the extreme processing to just the view out the window? I'm thinking that might emphasize the "looking out into a surreal world" feeling. Just a thought.

Hm, there's no actual window, it's outside on the terrace, and the building on the right helps in completing the inner frame... So, if I do what you have suggested, should I include the building, as part of the outside world, or not, as it is outside targeted rectangle...?

Also, I don't like selective coloring, and this kind of PP would be much similar to that. But I will think on the idea and try it out as soon as I grab some free time, thanx.

I would leave the building on the right alone and just modify the ceiling on top, the left side objects, the person, and the bottom ledge. I wasn't thinking so much of selctive color but just to leave it look more like conventional b&w without the glowing/negative look of the outside view. Don't know if it would work or not. I'm thinking of a look that says, "normal in my world, surreal outside."
