Hey all,
I chose this one out of a few I took of an A-10 Warthog at Osan Airbase, Korea. The spot lights used to light the display at night were making this one tough to shoot. I think the B&W examples help alleviate the effects of the light. Could I get a critique on the lighting and how to approach this kind of shot. Could I have gotten more creative with the composition? And I'm not quite sure what the bright dot is above the cockpit but I can't seem to get rid of it. Anything helps Thanks |

Pity about the spotlights... it seems to draw my eye down there when I should be looking at the plane. The way the plane is mounted on that pillar and the angle that you shot it makes it feel like the plane is taking off over my head.

It looks like the wall on the left is relatively plain. If it is, I probably would've tried moving to the right for a composition that would've gotten rid of the distracting background in the lower right of the shot. On shots like these it's tough to get the whole plane in the frame from wing tip to wing tip and it can look a little awkward when just the tips of the wings are cut off (sort of like a shot of a person where the feet are cut off). A couple ideas to try would be to move back to show the the whole plane and its surroundings or you could zoom in on one area to capture the detail (say, the nose/cockpit area). The first suggestion may give you more options to hide the bright spotlights in the shot and the second suggestion will remove them from the shot completely.
