Default Rainy plants

Rain on plants seems to be a popular thing to do, here's my first attempt. My self-critique is that it's not quite focused now that I look at it close-up.

I cropped and played with the levels to increase the contrast a little. Any critique on composition and PP suggestions would be appreciated. It was a shady forest setting on a slightly overcast day.

Rains in Devil's Gulch

EXIF:
Exposure: 0.077 sec (1/13)
Aperture: f/5.7
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

Cheers...

Hi Will,

This a nice image. I love the green and black combination.

I agree. The depth of field is shallow, but OK. I think that the focus problem comes from the shutter speed. You didn't say what kind of camera and lens you used, but my guess is that even with an IS (Canon) or VR (Nikon) lens, that 1/13 is too slow for 55mm, especially on a 'crop sensor' camera.

I think that composition is good and I really like the contrast. Again, I like the black shadows and bright greens.

Thank you. The plants are quite striking in real life in the dark forest, so I'm glad I was able to capture that. You are correct regarding the camera -- Canon crop-sensor. Seeing that it was 1/13 I'm happy it wasn't more shaky. I'm playing with aperture priority, so shutter speed does what it does. I'll need to pay closer attention.

Thanks for the feedback.

Cheers...
