Twinkle in the christmas tree

I was trying to capture the twinkle of the lights on my christmas tree, but lost the color in the background..its more amber. Any thoughts on to how to improve on this picture..Its ok, be brutal, I'm learning Picture taken at night.

At a guess, I'd say your white balance is off. If you shot in RAW, you can adjust in post processing. If not, try setting the white balance on your camera to "Tungsten" ( it may have a light-bulb shaped icon). This will make an indoor shot, lit solely by the tree, look more true to what your eyes see. I hope this helps.

You did get the twinkle of the lights and the background color can be corrected as mentioned, but I noticed how straight the tree looked and how tilted the the room looked. I don't know enough about photography and equipment to suggest a fix for that tho.
