If you'd add the EXIF info, it would be easier to help.
Did you use a flash? Some sort of bright reflection seems to be on the ring. A softer light could take that problem away (I'm not an expert in lighting issues though). Or one of those light boxes that you can either buy or make yourself. I have the same camera as you. I have never tried shooting jewellery though. If it comes out blurry on macro setting...are you sure the camera focused correctly (you know, press the shutter halfway and you see the green brackets etc.)? Or maybe it's camera shake which can be reduced by using a tripod. And as for waiting for long time for a response, you should be patient. Sometimes it takes a while

Using a tripod would definately help. As for the blownout highlights, I would suggest putting a small piece of white tissue paper over your flash. This will soften the light without leaving your shot underexposed. The tissue trick also helps when taking portraits while using your on-camera flash. It evens the light out, softens harsh shadows and also helps to eliminate red-eye. I still use my sony for a lot of shots, and the tissue tip (learned here), really helped.
