Default Hoar frost

Was out in this the other day Very cool Am I on the right track or am I missing something

Camera: Canon EOS 50D
Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/320)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 135 mm
ISO Speed: 200

All comments and Help Always needed. Hear to learn and Help if I can.

The first thing that I noticed was that the white balance seems a little funny. I would suggest manual white balance for this scene because the snow seems a little more blue than white.

I'm also not a big fan of how this is cropped; it feels a little cramped to me with the frost so close to the left hand side. Even following the rule of thirds, the picture feels a little tight. The dimensions are off, so I'm guessing this isn't the original...?

But my applause to you for:
a. getting out in the snow to take that shot
b. the shot itself, which shows a lot of detail and is impressive

I quite like the color of the snow here, the ever so slight blue tone conveys that cold feeling. But I would agree with opening it up a bit, just going slightly wider would make a big difference.

I agree completely with the above post, the only thing I might have done is to try and darken the background a bit in post production, the snow around the leaves is a bit lost in the backgorund in my opinion.
