Default Aastha

Aastha means faith in Hindi. Took this photograph as the man was lighting the lamp to begin his prayer. Comments eagerly awaited on exposure and composition. I thought the background to be a little distracting but the location was such I could not better position myself to get a clearer background. Some have told me that the background adds to the picture...

Hi Anikomei,

Welcome to DPS!

I think you have captured this picture at such a precise moment-good work on that! Its got such great colors and being Indian, I recognise the importance of all the things (the red 'sindoor', the pot holding the flowers and mango leaves). I love the colours it brings to the picture.

Im pretty new here so I cant really critique, but myself do want to hear how the others would see this composition and how the rule of thirds would apply to something like this? Im sure the others will have great ideas to offer.

I personally think your background, more so the man's knee, is distracting! Given the situation, I know you couldnt have moved him!! But are you able to blur the background a little more in post production. Just my 2 cents really.

But good work and great title of Aastha for it

Good luck and look forward to seeing more
Priya.
