Default All Lined Up

Too cold to be outside on the day after Thanksgiving, I was looking for an inside photo inspiration when a leftover bag of crabapples was spotted in the fridge. They were quickly spirited out to the studio in hopes that the creative "juices" might flow. This is my favorite image from the session. Naturally, the little "buggers" wouldn't sit up on their own so I perched each on top of a steel nut about 30% their size. This arrangement allowed for easier placement and positioning. Perhaps the back row could have been a little higher? One of my objectives was to keep the stems on about the same level w/o making them perfectly so. The two center back row crabapples are quite a lot darker in color than the others....all I available at the time. Does this color intensity difference help or hurt? Comments on lighting, framing, or anything would be else much appreciated.

Details: Tripod mounted Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 100mm Macro IS lens, 1.6 sec. exposure at f/16. ISO 400. Two opposing daylight balanced fluorescent bulbs aimed through white umbrellas. RAW file processed in LightRoom2.

Thanks,
Carl
