Smile Drip Drop

I have been attempting to catch waterdrops in action. I seem to have a difficulty getting a really crisp photo. This is one of the better ones. Based on the details can anyone suggest changing the settings? or options to get a crisper one next time?

I know the camera is not the best in the world but it's all I have to work with for now...

Default What do you mean by "crisp"

With water drops, a fast shutter speed is essential for "crispness"; I think your shutter speed was fairly long at close to 1 second (0.769 if I'm not mistaken). It may have enough speed to stop the motion, but a higher shutter speed will make it more effective. More lighting might be necessary to achieve this.

The other issue I can see may be the large aperture. With f4.0, you'll have to choose which part of the drop is in focus; a difficult thing to do when the drop only lasts a fraction of a second. Try using a spoon, pencil, spatula or your finger, and hold it approximately where the drop will be, and lock the focus on that (oh, and good luck with getting the timing right ).

Check out the EXIF data on this photo; it may help Flickr: More detail about Crown Drop

Hope this helps; I look forward to seeing some more results!
