Default Finished Pie

After I finished a sweet potato pie that my Wife made for me I was looking at it and it inspired me to take a picture of a pie tin with a fork and crumbs. Ultimately I am trying to convey a feeling of being "finished" as in the party is over and this is all that remains type thing. I was using an external flash on a sync cable with a cardboard tube as a snoot. Are the highlights too much? Should it be darker to convey the feeling that I am going for? or should it be brighter as in the sun coming through the window and this is all that is left? Let me know what you think.

Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi

Man, you are leaving a lot of crumbs while people are starving around the world

On the topic: I think there's no need for it to be any darker. It has some sad flavour that is just what you were going for I think.

If I would have took the pictures after I truly finished eating the pie then it would have just looked like a fork in a pie tin.
Thank you for both the on ond off topic comments.

Default More Light?

Great capture; excellent composition.

I think (and really, who cares what I think), that the image is a tad dark. Other than that, I'm kind of peeved that you didn't leave any for me!

I think it is a great shot! I think the "dark" helps to convey the "finished" or "that's it" feeling. With all due respect to Mike, the dark helps the mood. I know when I finish a pie I am not thinking, "Yay! I finished! Go me!" (cue light) I am thinking "Its gone..." (cue sadness.)

Then again I have 2 strikes against me:
1) I am a Noob
and 2) I hold out for pumpkin.

Great shot!

That is a little funny that people are arguing points for me. Haha. Thanks everyone. It at least conveys the point of being left out of the pie eating.
