Default Hurcott Lake

This is one of my first pictures with my new 500D. I liked this image and would like some opinion on it. A few people I have showed like it but I'm new to photography and this is my first DSLR so don't be too harsh!

Thanks

An interesting pic, i somehow see that the subject is slightly out off focus, probably you shifted a bit when pressing the shutter down.

Boy do I ever get what you mean with the warning about being harsh cause youre new. Im still learning too, so I get it. I really like the idea of this picture...I love how the background doesnt take away from the subject, yet if you are interested in it, you can make out the landscape, instead of it just being a big blur. Very interesting!

Thanks for your advice wal. I am going to attempt a retake when I get time because I like the picture but I agree with you about it the railings being partly blurred.
