Help product image of fur. How can I make it better?

Hey everyone I need some help this is going to be a product image for a website and I would like your critique how can I make it look better? any lighting tips?

I would kind of like to keep the background all white but willing to give something else a try if it make the photo that much better.

Can you put some hard light on the... fuzzy thingie, so you don't just lose all the detail into the black? Getting some white reflections off the hairs might help you show off a bit more detail.

You basically need a "hair" light, just like in portraits, you need an off-angle light source that will lend some highlights to the fibers on the sock.
