Post Dried Out . . .

I'm on the edge. Some days I'll glance at this image and find it interesting. Other days, not so much.

I like the contrast between the ugly, battered stems and the pretty petals & 'swirl' patterns from the vase. I'm not sure about the focus. I sort of like the idea that I don't immediately know what I'm looking at, but I'm not totally in love with it. Any thoughts?

It looks like a can full of sticks. I can't really tell they are stems and the dead petals on bottom are mostly covered. The shallow depth of field doesn't really do anything for me on this shot. I don't really feel like there is a subject that I am supposed to be seeing. The focus doesn't lead my eyes anywhere in particular.

Thanks a mil for your honest opinion. I'm brand new to photography and trying to learn as much as I can. I think I might be trying to like it.

I kind of like it. It's different from the usual shots that I see. I am new to photography too. I like the color from the leaves. Just start taking photos of everything. You will get photos you like and don't like. Best of luck!

Since this is the critique section, perhaps you could say why

IMO, it may have been more effective if the focus was on the petals rather than on the stems.
