U haven't shared your EXIF data. As regards composition it would have been better if the open space had been in front of the subject instead at the back i.e. the subject to the right of the image. This would have also stopped from the eyes to get distracted towards the bright spot to the right.
However I like the blurring effect. It gives a very cool effect and brings out the subject.

Nice tone. But i'd prefer the boy at the right side of the frame, and the empty space in front of him.

Thanks for your comments guys, one consistent feedback I have got on this shot was 'the subject could have been on the right side of teh frame'...

I wonder how so many people can think alike... may be its a fundamental rule of composition, I am sure I am still in the very initial stages of learning...

the moment i saw the pic i wanted to say the boy should be on the right of the frame.
See the fundament in this so many people thinking alike is as follows.
Picture tells a story,so when u place the boy on the right corner and the empty space in front of him it says he has a long way to go.Its simply tht and nothing else.Otherwise as a silhouette i loved your pic.
