Default Fungus

From a recent walk in the woods. CC on sharpness (I sharpend in pp..does it look to much?), exposure, and white balance please (wb adjusted to cloudy in pp)

2009 09 01_0371fungus 1 8 by 10

Camera: Nikon D50
Exposure: 0.02 sec (1/50)
Aperture: f/4.8
Focal Length: 165 mm
Exposure: +0.15
ISO Speed: 800

Hi Anne,

It could just be that I need new glasses but it seems to be a bit our of focus. When I look at it my eyes seem to search for something steady but I find myself wandering. I think the sharpness is too much. I would like to see the original.

Here is the un-retouched original SOOC. I did think it was a bit out of focus, hence the sharpening...maybe that was not what I needed to do. So, what do you think?

To me that does look sharper. What did you do?

I am still learning the ins and outs of photoshop.

BTW, the shot was difficult to take as the fungus was at the base of a tree and I could not get down on my hands and knees to properly focus. I am amazed that I got as good an image as I did.

Hi Anne it's; a great shot I like it. I went into filters and used the Unsharp Mask bumped the radius up a tiny bit and the threshold down a tiny bit.Wish I could tell you why it works but I'm just learining myself.Here is a kinda photos for dummies(which is where I'm at) tutorial.
