Smile What background should i have used?

After taking this photo, i started thinking, should i have used a background for this, if so, what kind?

I took the photo, without a background. In complete dark in the room.

I think that a background would looking interesting. With red and blue already in the picture maybe a pale yellow would work.

My oppinion , the b/g is good... the only thing lacking is the image not clear enough to show the beautiful electric effect..

Plasma balls are tricky to take pictures of, because your want it to be dark but you don't want the whole thing to be a blur with longer shutter speeds. You also don't want to use a high iso. I really think that I light backgroud would make it so that a wider aperture could be used then the whole thing could be in focus. Just a thought though.
