From the title, I presume you wanted to illustrate the respect the man on the right is giving to the (?)shrine on the right hand side? However, there is a whole list of things that works against this. A quick, incomplete list:

The shrine is in relative darkness

There is a vertical post between it and the man

You've chopped the man's legs off at the ankles (framing at the joints is generally a bad idea... standing on the bottom of the frame doesn't look great either)

The other figure is looking somewhere else (no respect indicated) but this side of the picture takes up half the frame.

Was the picture taken somewhere near you? If so, perhaps you could go back and try again.... but pick a different time of day when the lighting is better.

all your points noted.. really appreciate an advice from a master like you...

I'm still learning taking street shot like this, and i find it very interesting, challenging and fun to do.

The key thing is to learn to give a critique like this to yourself while you're taking the photos. That way you can evaluate and adjust. I'm not sure the lighting would have worked at that particular place and time for the idea you were going for but you might have spotted some other possibilities.

ps. was I right about it being prayer at a shrine?

I'm not sure i can define it as a shrine.

It looks more to a totem actually, a single piece of wood carved with chinese caligraphy, (I dont know what it says ) normally it is for a spirit, or guardian for the river, but in the chinese community it is more common in dedication to their ancestors.
