Default Rusty destiny acomplished ?

Normally when I photograph metal bars I go for a hard, often black&white look, but this time I wanted my message to be different.

Now I know you see a different thing than me when you look at the photograph but I want it to show different paths going up, all rusty and not knowing which to choose.... (feelings are hard to describe ). I said all that to motivate my small DoF.

What are your feelings when you look at this photograph ?
What are the strong points and what are the weaknesses ?
Does this photograph illustrate Matthew 6:19-20 ?

I think a wider depth of field would have been good. There is too much blur at the bottom edge of the frame; without it I think the eye would more easily travel from the bottom up into the blurry area of indecision among the rusting bars.

One way to accomplish this would have been to step back a bit (creating a wider depth of field) and then crop down to lose any blur at the bottom.

To illustrate the Bible verse, what you really needed was a convenient moth to land somewhere in the sharp area of the image!

I don't mind the limited DOF... but... I think you chose (or ended up with) the wrong focal point. one's eyes are usually going to be drawn to the closest point of all the rods. it's where my eyes go. and they're disappointed that the closest rod is out of focus and I have to look to the second one to get sharp detail. Had the dof been one inch closer to the camera causing the longest(closest) rod to be in focus, I might have fav'ed the photo.

the blurred area at the bottom isn't something to worry about in a photo such as this, but there is a bit much of it. you could crop this to a 5x7 or 8x10 ratio and get rid of some of it, resulting in a little better composition.
