Default Tranquillity exposure & compersition

Hi all, having read here on the Exposure Triangle , i venture out with my Sony to the William Rickettts Sanctuary ,where there's a display of sculptures of Aboriginal figures set out in a beautiful forrest. As with all forrest surroundings they are pretty much low in light however with the lightrays that beams down i try to take this to my advantage. I have taken over 300 shots and 45% came out, those that did'nt turn out was all to blury & dark . Need guidance I would greatly apprictate your critique on my shot, still tryin to twist my fingers on the right settings in using the A.S and been using the M for a while but still all new to me.

That blurred firn is REAL distracting. It would have been nice if you could have held it down so it was out of the shot.

If you had a tripod you could have increased the aperture to give you more depth of field to get it into focus.
