Default Open door in abandoned house

The title of this shot is actually "So at a knock I emptied my cage, to hide in the world and alter with age," which is taken from a poem by Robert Frost. Any of you ever use quotations as titles for your work?

Taken at an abandoned farm house somewhere in Eastern Washington. Post production, as always, in GIMP. Just wanted your general thoughts about coloring, composition, and anything else you think is pertinent to the discussion. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Larger version here if you'd like to see texture detail.

I like the concept but think it would be more powerful if part of the door wasnt cut off

Well, the door wasn't there at all. If that is cropped in an awkward place, it was only because the door to the left was open and letting bright sunlight in. I didn't want to get a blown-out spot and mess with the metering of the rest of the shot. Thanks for your comment!

There seem to be two things: the doorway, and the old chimney on the right. They're competing for my attention. The colors, textures, and warmth of tone are great -- but I can't decide which to look at!

Another minor comment: it looks like your lens's distortion is showing up -- which I wouldn't notice, except that the doorway's left edge is clearly curved. I only notice because it's right on the edge of the frame.

Just my opinion about the photo, so take it with a grain of salt.

I really like the atmosphere you managed to create in this photograph, alone and wanting to go in the next room hoping there is someone.

The composition also benefits from the position of the joining lines between the floor/the ceiling and the wall. However I would like to point out that the black round hole in the chimney (or whatever it is) draws my attention more than the door. No matter how many times I look at the photograph my eye tends to stop at the black hole, I believe because it is so...black.

I do not know if this is the way the door is or if it is the result of lens distortion, but the doorway seems to lean towards the centre of the photo. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as it adds to the feeling of loneliness and fear.

Like I said this is just what I see now and what I feel while looking at your photograph.

P.S. I was writing my reply while dcclark posted his so did not have the chance to read his, thus some ideas might be repeating.
