Smile The Wedding Cake.

Wedding cake

My sister was married a few weeks ago, which turned out to be a great place to test out my new Nikon. This is the only shot of the wedding cake that turned out decent, in my mind. Would love to get some feedback on what I could have improved in the shot!

I think this shot is perfect as it is. Beautiful vibrant colors...nice angle. Very appealing. Nicely done.

Default A helpful list to succesful posting and getting critique

We want everyone to have fun and learn here at DPS. In order to insure that, there are some rules you need to follow when posting in the Critique sections:

Only ONE new critique request per day (24 hour period) for ENTIRE critique section. Choose your image carefully.
Please post only ONE image in the thread. If you need to show more, link it to your set. If you post more than one, the other will be deleted at the moderators discretion.
Please keep images to 800px on the longest side. Mods reserve the right to resize oversize images or delete them until resized. This is easy to put up the proper size if you use flickr. If you feel it is necessary for us to see a larger size, link to it.
We strongly encourage the use of a photosharing site such as flickr, photobucket, zoomr, etc.
Please include the following information, if possible, with your image: EXIF info, type of camera, specific questions (What do you think? is not a specific question). A meaningful title, NOT "Critique Please", will also get your post noticed in a crowded section.
Only post if you are willing to be critiqued - this isn't a place for showing off, but a place for people to suggest how you can improve. If you don't think you need to improve then this might not be the section of our forums for you.

I know there is supposed to be critique, but I just can't think of any on this one. It's absolutely beautiful, colors, composition, etc. Beautiful! Did I mention I love the colors...

I love this shot, colours and everything...
the only thing i'm thinking is that I hope it was zoomed out a bit more - too cropped in my opnion, but that's just me. :P

As a picture of a cake, it is nice. Good colors, and all that. Perhaps try to include the bride and groom next time. You could have had the bride and groom's hands holding a cake cutter like impending motion at the upper right side to tie the cake into the ceremony. I would not have them cut it necessarily, but just to keep this from being a documentation of a cake, but of being comparing the beauty of the cake to the wedding itself.

Just me thinking out loud.

I think it looks great. It looks like it should be on the cake makers website. My only comment is that it looks a little blown out on the left side on the top tier.
