Question Onion and Garlic

I recently completed a course at the University of the West Indies Open Campus entitled Photography Level II. Part of the final exam was a display of six photos. The attached photograph received the highest score in the class - 93.5 out of 100.

What should have been done better to get 100?
Are the flaws in the composition, or exposure?

Any comments would be appreciated.

First, well done and congratulations.

I like the idea of the photo, and I think that the execution is pretty well done. The first thing I notice that is a bit questionable is the plant coming out of the onion -- behind it. What is it? What is it doing there? It's somewhat out of focus, and looks like it's growing out of the onion (but clearly isn't).

What a great shot, thanks for sharing Triniirish1973. The only thing that bothers me (besides the plant that dcclark mentioned) is the fact that the photo coloring seems slightly off. There's a vivid red hue to it that really stands out.

Or maybe it's my computer monitor.

Other than that, it's a great photo. Very inspiring!

That plant showing behind the onion is a seasoning called Thyme and it was being held by the person's hand. Where I am from onions, garlic and thyme is used along with other herbs and spices to prepare food... you wouldn't believe the taste that it adds to the food.

As to tannerc's comment about a vivid red hue... well that wasn't in the printed photo that was displayed so I guess that it may have occurred during uploading. I have noticed that sometimes I have to upload photos two and three times for it to look like the print. Could have some thing to do with the server on my end.
