Default Moon and Stars

Last weekend, I was camping, and I took a picture of the moon since it was pretty large at the particular time. After looking at it on my computer, I thought adding some stars would be a nice touch, so I tried adding some. Here is what I came up with:

Is it too much? Does it look natural or fake?

Hey Natek, Thanks for ur input on my photo. I think yours is very good. Even though you put the stars in during processing, they look real. The picture is only 3x5 on my screen... so it may not look the same as a larger image. This size it looks great.

You asked about the color of mine... like I said it was pretty much on the bluish side that evening. i read somewhere that if you change your white balance to incandescent it will give you a slightly bluish tint. Maybe that will help. Good luck and take care.

moon is stunningly beautiful but the stars look more like specks of dust than a point of light from far far away.

Default Moon and stars

I don't think I have ever seen the moon passing through the ORION constellation like that. Otherwise good. I would rotate ORION maybe 45 degrees ccw.

My experience as an astrophotographer would dictate that this looks fake. It'd be almost impossible to get an exposure which would show the moon and stars this well. Obviously you're not trying to pass this off as a single exposure. Asthetically, it does look very nice... like it could be a single exposure. One last nit-picky amatuer astronomer comment. As far as I know, this image would never be possible. The Moon's orbit never brings it this close to the constellation of Orion (one of my favorite constellations). At least not in my part of the world.

As I said before it definately has some asthetic appeal but anyone with a decent knowledge of astronomy would know it was photoshopped. Focus looks good, too.

i think the stars should be removed. i think just the moon alone would be nice.
