Default Hibiscus

I took this last Dec and after some processing I'm happier with it but I had just bought the camera and am still learning to take better photos. Any ideas on what I should have done are very welcome.

Sorry that I forgot to add the exif data.

Nice side lighting to bring out the texture of the pedals. I might try to tone down the bright items in the lower right and left corners. also burn in the upper right corner to keep your eye in the picture.

Thanks for the quick reply. Both those corners bothered me as well but at this time I do not know how to use elements to fix. Got lots more reading on Elements 7 to do yet.

You could crop off the top part and have the flower fill more of the frame. Maybe add a light vignette to tone down the corners. You can add a vignette with the Lens Distortion Correction filter under Filters in Elements.

Per DPS guidelines we ask that you post your exif information. Knowing what the settings were on your camera are very helpful in offering critique. Alternative settings can then be suggested

I like this image a lot. I agree that perhaps tones down the bright areas of the flower just a tad may add to the richness of the flower. I like the hard light and then I don't. I keep wondering what a softer shadow on the petal would look like. I love the colors and the contrast of the pink and blue!

I agree with a past post, a little vignetting would do wonders with this.

I do like the shadow the stamen casts on the petals though.
