Hello, and welcome to the forums! We're glad to have you.

If you check the critique forum rules, it's highly suggested that you include a question to go with your pictures. However, since you don't have those, I'll generalize.

The first picture I feel has good contrast and such that pairs nicely with the black and white. The central focus point I feel works well, and the depth of field and focus is good. A very ordinary and possibly uninteresting picture, but good. (This is getting quite hard to critique without knowing what you want.)

The second picture is, quite simply, out of focus. My bet is due to low light—you have a lens with image stabilization since it's the Canon Rebel series kit lens, the 18-55mm? Try not to shoot stationary objects at less than 1/50 to 1/30 at any given focus length without a tripod.
