Smile Apple and mango

Hi folks, I did this shot the other day and would like very much your opinion and critique.

Is the lighting appealing? The composition on the subjects works? do you have a suggestion to make it better?

Apple and mango II

Exposure: 5 sec
Aperture: f/11
ISO: 100
Lens: Nikkor 50mm f/1.8
Strobist: Cheap all manual flash thru long snoot at full power, on top of the subjects.

Some fixing of color and curves on Adobe Lightroom.

The only thing I notice is the Mango stem is distracting, for me.

I guess it depends on what you were going for. For me if it was a still life, I would have softened the light. I would have liked to see the bottom portions of the fruit. Maybe try reflecting some soft light down there.

Thanks Elmo & utsc2006 for yous kind feedback, what I can tell about this is that, I kind of make it like this on pourpose, because I had a black blanket and used it to give it a dak look to it, also, Since i have just one flash that I can use off camera, I wanted to try some dramatic lighting.

utsc2006: I'll try a new shot filling with some light on the lower part of these fruits.
