Default Abandoned apartment

Good day,
I more or less just started playing around with my dSLR early this year, only recently I started being serious about photography.

Getting to the point, this photo was an entry for a DPS's weekly assignment "abandoned" and my 1st entry ever. I got lots of people viewing this photo but no comments (dont get me wrong, i love seeing my photos being hit), so I turn to you, dear critiques. What is wrong (if there is any rights) about this photo - the composition, lighting (just natural lighting), style, colour, crop?

I understand to answer all the above in bold is a bit much, please pick one [or more if you wish] and do leave a your critiques/comments/opinions.

Cheers

I'll go for the composition critique. I can see the poerspective in an attractive position, which is pleasing, nevertheless it looks like a snapshot to me, I feel you could have played more on the perspective, maybe shooting from high or a low perspective, I feel it a bit crowded.

Default hmmm

On the color issue, I'd like to see this in Black and White; my gut tells me that it'd be better; esp if you run it with, say, a red filter (some editing programs have that, the Alpha 200 may even have it in camera -- I'm not sure).

As mentioned I get the crowded feeling. My first thought was to have shot it with a wider angle lens, but when I look at the picture is appears to be shot with a simi- wide angle lens pointed down. (floor starts before roof, verticals get further apart as the go up). For me shoot wider and use an on camera level (preferably camera on a tripod).

Next the horizon (artificial horizon at end of walkway) is almost dead center, try moving camera up or down to move this horizon.

It is also seems moving point of view to the left some might provide diagonal lines leading into the shot to increase drama.

Post processing: as mentioned B/W is a possibility. If B/W I might try high contrast and/or posterazitation. Whatever you do tone down those over white areas on the floor. The ones at the far end are really distracting for me.

Default Retake abandoned apartment

Thank you for your feedbacks, it is much appreciated.

I have taken into consideration some of your comments but unfortunately here in Brunei (South East Asia region) the weather has not been kind, we are in the middle of the wet season (monsoon). So instead of going back to the location I went through the files to see if I took any extra shot of the same spot, found one of the same view just a different angle and tried to incorporate some of your suggestions into it. I didn't have time to convert the image to black&white yet... none the less here are the shots.

Abandoned Apartments - Revisit

Equally, I have the same image from above and have cropped it a bit more with less vibrant colours

Do choose one image [or more if you chose too ] you would like to give your comments, suggestions & critique too. Your input is invaluable.

Thank you for your time.

Just working with this angle< I would have made it a b/w and grained it a bit to add or build on a depressive lost mood.

I couldn't get the on what the focus is be?
If the focus is on the front wall, then the sides looks like some siege hostel rooms or
just like some older slaughter house. lolz
But, it was very nice one. If you see it regarding some critical points.
regards
