Are the highlights on the stems to distracting?

To me, the crop looks right. I like how the relatively large amount of soothing green balances of the vibrant yellow and red on the flower. And I can't see that you over-sharpened it. Arguably, some would say that the bottom of the stem shouldn't be directly in the photo's lower left hand corner - but, for some reason, how you have it doesn't bother me in this shot.

But, I do find the highlights a bit distracting. Maybe airburshing them a bit would help?

Hah! Well, for my PP skills, there's a huge gap between what I know can be done and what I can do with any degree of competence. So, I think I'm in the same boat.
