Not really, although blending a sepia background with the red rose is less jarring than the more frequent bright colour against a black and white monochrome image. In fact, it took a while for me to register that it was an example of selective colouration, which is good (at least in my book!).

I'm not sure about the overall composition though. Could you say a bit about the choices you made there?

Thank Wulf for your time to look and comment.I was shooting roses on the guitar and when I was done ,I
shut the case and put the rose on top and the light just seemed right. I wanted it to show a bifferent Mood.
Than just Colour or B&W.

I agree the sepia effect is a nice change to the usual 'selective colour/B&W' technique, although I have to say the lighting makes the rose a bit dark. Perhaps that's the reason why Wulf didn't notice the selective colour at first.

As for composition, yes it could be done better- only because my eyes try to see what the lettering says, and that the stalk of the rose could probably do with being in colour too, since the case and the floor have similar tones.

I particularly liked the composition on your #9 picture on flickr.

I think the overall tone and lack of light on the rose makes it seem very mute and unemotional.
