Default Purple Candles

Camera: Nikon D90
Exposure: 0.077 sec (1/13)
Aperture: f/4.2
Focal Length: 82 mm
ISO Speed: 800
Exposure Bias: -1 EV
Flash: No Flash

I liked this shot when I first saw it and am just looking for constructive feedback. When I look at it again in more detail , perhaps it is a little out of focus ? What do you think ?
Perhaps a crop (on the top side to remove the wood ?)

Thanks for looking

Jason

Yes, I agree. I'd crop off the top so that all that is left are the rows of candles. The colors are very nice and I like the pattern created by them. I think it's a nice shot.

I also like the pattern created by the shapes of the candles. This is a well exposed shot. The -1EV worked well for this picture.

I love the way the wicks are disorganized, it gives the pic a lot more personality.

I feel like if you crop off the top it'll make it a bit too cliche, though maybe you don't mind that. If you were taking the shot again, I might actually crop off the bottom, and highlight the shelve candles a little bit more...show where the candles came from.

I also probably wouldn't focus directly in the middle. I think the rule of thirds applies not just with subject placement, but also with focus in a pic like this.

Well lit, and clear, though! Nice find.
