Default The disturbing mosquito

Hi there!

I hope I am posting this on the right place

I took this one some weeks ago and I keep coming back it. I kind of like it, but there is something in it that results disturbing...

Mosquito

... maybe it is related to composition, I do not know. I will appreciate it much if I could get some advice on this matter, even though I am not really sure what it is that "bothers" me.

Here's a link to a bigger image:

I think that you should crop it tighter; the subject is almost dwarfed by the OOF background. I think there is especially too much empty space at the top of the picture. Don't crowd the subject, but lop some of that off. I think it would be much better cropped, but it is a nice sharp shot!

Perhaps it is the background that is too big and the subject is too small. Space and size help emphasize the subject. The DoF is great though.

I would crop the top down, leave somewhere between an 3/4" and an inch above the head, then bring the sides in, but not too much. Make sure to keep him off center.
