Default Seaplane

Not sure which category to put this under so here it is.

A picture of a local seaplane that ferries passengers to local island in scotland. Just cought in a gap in the clouds.
If I could get feedback on colours and cropping should it be cropped closer or is the depth of field better? Any other comments appreciated.

Hi, that is an awesome shot. Very cool. I am not sure about the colors? I see that you used the Auto White Balance setting with a Nikon camera. I have found that with my Nikon I will often get much truer color if I get off of the Auto setting with white balance. I would think that when you took this shot the sky appeared to be more blue than the yellowish brown cast I see here. Oh! and yes I would crop in closer to the plane just to make it stand out more. Hope that helps.

I wouldn't have noticed the plane if not for the title. The colors are pretty, if not strange. I don't think cropping will help much unless your copy is REALLY high resolution.

I actually really like this shot. I like the tones in it so I personally would not change that element of it.

You could crop it but again, I don't mind it at all the way it is. The plane is back lit nicely and the fact that it is not perfectly clear what it is immediately it asks you to look closer.

Nice shot!

Hi all
Thanks for the comments.
Thanks for the Auto White Balance tips I will experement with this. I did change the colours with photoshop the original was not very colourful so this may be the difference.

Cheers

This is a great shot, I love the way that the plane is so insignificant compared to the mass of clouds. I don't think cropping it would help. I believe the colour compliments the photo as it adds effect. That's just my opinion though, cheers

This is kind of an old post lol but I just found this and I have to say I LOVE this picture! The color and the clouds gives it a magical feel and the plane helps to show how big the scene is because its so small and far away. I really like it!

I love the natural frame/vignette formed by the clouds. I think you might lose this if cropped tighter onto the plane. If only the plane were a little bigger. Still, really nice shot.

amazing picture. I wouldnt crop it, as I think it gives a scale to the image. Most people have an idea of how big a seaplane is, and if it is that small... it must be a far way away. Like someone else said, the smallness makes you search for it, and the resulting awe of how big the scene is depends on this.

I dont think you should change a thing. perfection in my opinion.
