Default how bout this concert shot?

Same show I went to last weekend, took this from the left side of the stage (on stage). I really liked his expression, and the picture just took a life of its own black and white. I was using a 50mm 1.4 lens, and was trying to isolate him from the crowd and all. Did I do a good job? How bout the exposure? Is there too much empty space on the left? Thank you for your critique.

I think its really nice but I'm not sure about the crop. I think the microphone looks funny, because it's in front of him like he's singing into it, but its off in the distance... so it's just a little wierd for me. I'd say crop that mic out. So go like 8x10 or maybe even a square to include him and the other performer and a little bit of the crowd in the BG. You could probably just crop the stand out and then clone the mic out and stay a little wider. B&W looks amazing.

Default hey ericw

I see what you are talking about the mic stand, I"m going to try cropping the stand and cloning the mic. I think the mic is actually the other performer's mic though, I was actually on the stage, and arturo's mic (guy in focus) is not pictured here. From the angle of the shot it looks like John's mic (guy out of focus) is arturo's mic. Thanks for the critique... yeah BW did wonders on this shot... thanks again

Works quite well in B&W. I don't think you need to remove the mic either, I think it's quite obvious it's not his.

Great shot!

i think i would like to see it without the mike... it is a bit distracting, my eye keep going to it.
