Too much vignetting (as for me), otherwise great shot!

the shoes stand out more than the hands.. and thats the important part. sorry to be negative.
![]() if you desaturate the edges a bit and increase saturation/contrast in the middle and you'll bring more attention to the hands. clever concept though.

Right off I liked it, but the more I look at this shot I would have to agree that the vignetting is a little bit much, not that the area it takes up is too large but that it is a bit strong (There seems to be a faint oval shape and distinguishes where it stops). Hope that makes sense? I would also agree that the shoes do stand out and take away from the rings a little bit. I think the composition is spot on, but i don't think it works for what you are going for (focus on the rings I'm assuming). But other than that its a very strong image.

I see what you were trying to do with the red shoes, red shirt and red umbrella, Kudos for that.
with that being said, her hand seems to come out from no where. Its just doesnt convey that strong emotional link one might think they would feel from 2 lovers sitting under an umbrella in the rain. Perhaps try another angle (if you can) where you might see the backs of thier heads or at least a tiny bit more of her

I like the composition how it goes from a big umbrella in the lower right corner to the feet toward the upper left. As first I thought that it would be better with a different color shirt besides one the same color as the umbrella, so there would be more differentiation there. However, I see that the shoes are red too and you must have had a theme going here. I am assuming that each shoes belongs to a different person. If so, I think it would be clearer to the viewer that this is a loving couple if one shoe was a different color.

The composition is good and the clashes of red are excellent. And there is a clearly defined line between the two reds of teh shirt and umbrella, good.
But, and a big but. Vingette, uk! This is fast becoming the internet communities favorite tool and almost every photo I see these days has it applied, and always over the top. And 99.99% of the time they have just ruined a good shot, and worse is you cannot offend them by saying so. ![]() A fine vingette to the corners may work but certainly you have overdone it. Redo the whole lot and you would have found the poll results would have been different, amazing what first impressions will do. |
