Default Hydrangea

Ok trying again. I shot this at the Botanical Gardens in my city. I liked this set of blooms in the hydrangea bush because out of an entirely blue bush, this one had a little bit of yellow in it. How is the composition? Color?

Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture: f/6.3
Focal Length: 55 mm
Exposure Bias: 0/6 EV

I like the colors a lot, hate to see the bottom of the flowers cut off.
Otherwise great shot

And, very nitpicky, the bit of flower? in the upper left corner. That could easily be cloned out or cropped out!

I love hydrangeas and these colors are beautiful! I think it could benefit from being a bit brighter and maybe a square crop. Can you get that bottom petal back in frame?

Those are a lot paler than mine - but I really like the soft look. Do you know the color is determined by the PH factor in the soil - thats all I know about gardening

No unfortunately that photo has not been cropped yet, so I can't get the petals back. But I will head back to the Botanical gardens and see what I can do. I'll try brightening as well. Yes I did know about the pH factor as I am a science teacher but thanks for the tidbit, I love random facts I'll head out again and put up what I get.

Agreed on the brightness, bumping the saturation won't hurt anything either. Compositionally, I think getting in tighter might be something to explore. Right now it's sort of in that middle ground where it's just a picture of a flower. A different angle could help as well. Don't be afraid to get lower and closer. Take a variety of pictures and cherry-pick the best.
