Default Lined Up

Another chocolate shot.
This time, its Ferro Roche, lined up nicely against the pile of books in the background.
Can it be better arranged for composition, or should I have removed the distracting pile of books?

cheguthamrin,

A word about Critique:
The Cadbury's Bar was a fun thread (who doesn't love chocolate?), but had little to do with how the shot was taken, or Critique on essential photography. EXIF is sometimes a key component in discovering what may be causing a photo to be "off" (see http://digital-photography-school.co...904#post219904 ).

This is your second post without EXIF, or much information at all that might help a Critiquer to help you in improving your work. Critique is here for that exchange of information and ideas. If you don't post all that went into producing your image, you don't give us the opportunity to learn from you, too.

I try not to delete threads if they can just be moved to Share Your Shots or if I can encourage the poster to add information here. Otherwise, you might have been moved to SYS already. It's a Moderator's choice. And it's your choice, too.

Tell us about your camera work. The chocolate is fun, but that's what SYS is for.

Sorry that I had not include the following EXIF:

Exposure: 0.019 sec (1/53)
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 5.6 mm
ISO Speed: 160
Flash: Flash did not fire

X-Resolution: 72 dpi
Y-Resolution: 72 dpi
Software: picnik.com
YCbCr Positioning: Centered
Date and Time (Original): 2008:07:02 16:24:03
Date and Time (Digitized): 2008:07:02 16:24:03
Shutter Speed: 34568/6035
Light Source: Fluorescent
Color Space: sRGB
White Balance: Manual

TO be honest, this was just using the camera phone on Nokia N95.
Some noise is visible, and the picture had been edited using piknik software from flickr to boost up the saturation / contrast. My initial idea was to compare 2 sets of lines; the pile of books vs the 2 rows of chocolates. I regret that I had not put in much thought about the details before taking the shot, cos I was paying more attention to the composition, which may not seem to work afterall. I could have done in better quality with a DSLR, but will it help if the composition isnt "there"?

cheguthamrin,

Is the camera phone your main source of your posts? If that information is part of your first few sentences, it changes our Critique, because we will not expect the same things. You can learn all there is to know about composition and framing using a pin hole camera, so the phone is fine.

Putting in your intention (to compare two sets of lines) would also lead the viewers immediately to that issue. We get used to seeing it all in a post - the color. focus, composition, so we may judge your post unfairly, unless we know what you took it with. Include everything you believe is influencing your image, more is better than not enough.
