Default C&C Starbucks sign

I wanted to get a picture of this sign at Starbucks, because the wording really captures what I was doing there -- enjoying my rewards. I got it to look like I had imagined, but it still seems like it's missing something. Any advice? How would you have taken this picture differently?

Michellepotter,
Just like I expected, the flash firing makes your picture look plain, if you increase the exposure you can get some more details from the background.
My .02

Thanks for sharing.

Honestly, I either wouldn't have taken the picture, or would have realized tripping the shutter was a futile thing. Not that I haven't done things like that, but I don't give them a second thought when I get home.

I don't quite understand how you expect to make this look interesting - it's just an advertisement for starbucks. A good shot will move you or make you think. Even if the ad can do that to you, taking a picture of that ad probably won't. It would still be that ad.

Secondly, you want people who look at the shot to feel or see what you see. This sign may have spoken to you because there was the smell of coffe in the air and it's taste on your tounge. But we weren't there, so the only context we have is what you give us. You'd have to try to give us that taste and smell through your shot for the saying on that ad to mean anything to us.

Hmm, I can see what you are saying. There may just not be anything to photograph here.
