Default Flowery Grave

Hi all,

I took this shot in a very old and very hidden cemetery. I took several photos to try and capture the calmness and the forgotten feeling I experienced there. I like the eerie contrast, but I think it could use a lot of work... The distracting bright part in the upper right, the twigs and such (although it adds kind of a forgotten feeling to the photo), and the fact that the grave feels perhaps like a separate subject instead of adding to the feel. I'm curious what I can do if anything to make this better?

Taken with my D200 and 50mm f/1.4 lens. ISO 200, 50mm, f2, shutter at 1/640, aperture priority mode. Took the raw, corrected white balance, and minor adjustments to color. Then cropped a tad.

Thanks!

Matt

Hi mattopia:
I will add some vignetting, try to burn the harsh light at the top right, adjust some levels and curves. From there you can choose many kind of moods. You can go for a natural photo, black and white, sepia, grunge kind of effect. It' depends on what you want to express I guess. Maybe some cross-processes effect will do it too. I think the best you can do is open the file in Photoshop and start to have fun. If you have more shots maybe a one with the stone on focus will add a different mood.
Thanks for sharing it!
