Default 8 ladies in the street

I could have done a lot of things different. Too many things wrong with this photo. It was a challenge to share it, but I can't learn from my mistakes if I don't put myself out there.
My challenge was keeping all women in focus as they walked away from the camera while keeping the background blurry. The sky was a challenge as well. Please help me improve. Thanks

Good shot. It's nice to see so many women dressed up, but not on a ballroom floor or in a setting that you'd expect.

The background is still a bit distracting. It is not just the relatively large depth of field (try a wider aperture and faster shutter speed - if your lens doesn't go faster, you will have to get nearer) but also the relative lightness of the sky. If you could get higher (step ladder?) you could frame these ladies against the darker area lower down with just a bit of sky at the top.

Yeah, everything Wulf said .

1/40 is just a bit slow to freeze walking people. There is some motion blur in the leg of the leftmost girl. And if you could figure out a way to really isolate the group through either shallow DOF or a less busy background, that would give them a lot more power.
