This image seemed like it was going to be better when I first took it. What should I do to make it better? I'm thinking get closer or another angle. Any help? Any way to rescue this image?

I like the placement of the reader. The fact that the wall takes up a large portion of the photograph gives good context. The choice of B&W also serves to bring out the texture in the walls. What bothers me about the framing is the slightly oblique line running along the bottom. All of the other lines are very straight, orthogonal and give the photograph a formal feel. The bottom edge interrupts that theme. You could try cropping it to see if that completes the formality of the photograph.

I did what you suggested and cropped out a bit of the bottom. Thanks for the compliments. Does this seem to work better?

The cropping is awesome. Well, that's just my opinion. ^_^

Messed with the contrast on this one. Felt kind of gray.

I don't know. Increasing the contrast definitely brought out the texture in the wall, but perhaps too much. It tends to pull my eye away from the reader. It may just come down to personal preference, though.
