I just started with photography, I'm completely new and untrained.
I only picked up a camera to help my husband photograph a gig he was writing a review for. I borrowed a Sony A100 from a friend which had a bog standard 18-55 lens on it. I had so much fun doing it, and I'd like to turn it into a full time hobby, but before I spend a bomb on a dslr camera for myself, I'd like some critique.Ideally, I'd like to know what to improve on. How is my lighting? How is my composition? How is my focus? I know that my centre point is off on a lot of the images. Please be constructive, it was my first time shooting a gig, and first time using a dslr camera. The rest of the pictures from the gig are posted at Flickr: emmaldownie's Photostream TIA Last edited by Emmald; 02-05-2012 at 10:41 PM. Reason: To comply with rules (my apologies) |

Your subjects are presenting themselves as subjects & being dramatically lit by professionals? I was thinking that this type of photography is a bit like shooting sport but more so. Re: your pictures, the focus & exposure are good. Composition might need a bit more work? But this is a situation where squirting off 6 or 8 shots is valid to get the one?
I'd recommend looking at the classics (Annie Liebovitz, Anton Corbijn et al). Though they may have cemented their reputations with after show candid pics? |
