Default Railroad rail

I thought about this shot a good while before snapping it. I tried to focus on the end of the rail with limited DOF.

Does the DOF and composition work?

Thanks for your help.

I don't think the teeny DoF works. The colours give this pic something that strengthens the composition. The rust orange rails & the blue stones are a lovely contrast but by blurring with wide aperture you've lost something of the gritty textures. The yellow grass says not much rain recently. The composition doesn't work in that my eye is drawn up by the dark post & away from the picture.

Thanks shruggy I value your comments. I can go back and reshoot. As for rain we have had plenty, this grass goes dormant over winter. Thanks again.

If you crop it so that all you see is the rail and the gravel I think it might be interesting. Lose the post and the other OOF background.
