Default photo critique for class

Being new to this forum I have tried to copy a link to the google+ photo, but not sure if it worked. I will also attach pic just in case.

For my photo class this week the assignment was a marketing or product photo. Something to sell. This is what I came up with all though I'm not entirely pleased. I think it's the composition that has me so off. Maybe I should have backed away from the skirt instead of filling the frame with it? Any ideas on how you would changed it?

What are you 'selling'? The skirt?

Having the skirt hang sideways makes the photo unsettling imo.

To sell clothing, hang it on a model for photography. Specifically, hang it on an otherwise well-dressed and made-up model that will be seen by your target market as attractive.

There's a reason that clothes companies spend so much on models.

Unfortunately the attached photo rotated. It is supposed to be hanging down.

I agree, find a model, and if it were me, I would find ads online that I liked & 'borrow' from them.
