AHH ok. I got it.

I skipped on some pretty sunset shots the other day as I didn't want to risk hurting my camera. Since its new all I had to go on was the manual.

@ ccting

With a SLR you burn a little hole in the film (this is from personal experience).

I havn't run into any problems with a DSLR, although I haven't found the need to shoot long exposures when looking into the sun directly. The longest exposure was at 1/15 of a second (ISO 50 & f13), and that was in foggy conditions. Normally it is a lot higher.

Thanks for that link. Yeah, that's way out of my price range. I'm happy with my 18-55mm kit lens, 55-250mm telephoto and the 50mm f/1.8 lenses. I was referring to glass types on filters (if their is a difference). I was looking at the Tiffin brand (58mm 6 stop ND) Any other suggestions? Thanks.

You own the same lenses as I do. Figure you usually get what you pay for in a lens. Buy locally and try it out before buying. Some others may be better suited to help you with brands they've purchased.
