Lighted Salmon Flies

I am trying to photograph some of my flies and I am experimenting with light. I took this photo using a long exposure in complete darkness and lit the subject with a pen light. I'd like to get a light with a narrower beam, but for now, what do you think of this photo? Is the light too intense? Does the reel stand out too much to actually distract from the flies?

F/Stop - f/8
Exposure - 10 sec.
ISO - 200
Focal Length 35mm with +2 closeup filter

The lighting is OK, but the reel does take away from the Flies. It looks to jumbled.

I figured I'd have to do a re-shoot on this one. The small area I was working with was just overpowered by the light.
