Default Sun setting

A shot took at the end of a beautiful day in my backyard. Hope you like it and I'm open to advice and suggestions :d

Nice photo. I'm a novice as well so take this with a grain of salt. I have two comments.

1) The powerline running right through the middle of the setting sun is very distracting to me and needs to be removed pp.

2) I don't know if the tree is supposed to be the focal point or the setting sun? It's perhaps a little busy?

So my suggestions would be to either crop out just above the powerline and see if you like that. That would definitely make the tree the focal point.

Or it would have been better to move the sun & distant hill's up higher in the frame (using the rule of thirds) to balance out the shot more...but you would still have to air brush out the powerline.

I hope that is some constructive help. It's just what my eyes tell me to do with the photo. I cropped out the powerline & lower portion in the attached image. Now the focal point is the tree and you still have the setting sunlight on the horizon. The image is less busy and your eyes aren't wondering where to focus at. I know you were trying to capture it ALL but sometimes simpler is better IMHO. But what the heck do I know???!!! LOL!

But I really like the idea of this shot. I've done some of these before myself with the setting sun and the contrast with the dark branches. It's definitely a good photo op if framed correctly. I think the warm lighting is nice as well. Keep up the good work and keep experimenting.

Thank you for the advice! I finally got that annoying powerline out and now any crop is possible.
