Default Lighting with Flash

Looking for some feed back on this image, I am just starting to learn about using flash, working through Strobist 102, and Light science & magic. I've just read about specular and diffuse reflection and had a go, this was the result,
I would like to know what you think,

have I lit the subjects ok, or do I need to do some more reading !

Flash was placed behind the background paper and bounced off the ceiling,
Flash power 1/2 at 24mm

converted to back and white and noise added in pp

Biggest issue is the underexposure. It is nice that you don't have much in the way of specular highlights...but you don't have much in the way of detail either. Light: Science and Magic is an excellent book.

Hi Bruce

thanks for the feed back, now that you point out the under exposure, I have to agree, think I got carried away with the reflection thing !

I'm finding the Light Science & Magic book a little confusing in parts, but I think that's probably just me ! lol So I shall stick with it, in the hope that eventually it will start to sink in.

It is a lot to absorb. I am on my 3rd time through and learn/understand a little more with each pass...
