Default Flower shot

I was out in a park yesterday in full sun (altho this area was shaded). The flowers were quite nice.

I'm looking for CC on composition, DOF, focus point...really anything you think is good or bad about the pic.

Camera: D3000
Lens: 50mm
f.1.8
1/2500 sec
ISO 200
SOOC

Thanks!

Nothing? Does the picture suck? Is it just kinda "meh, there's another flower"?

How are the colors? I think they feel a little drab. I think the WB is too blue as well.

Is the composition alright?

How about the background? Is it fine? Too busy? Too blurry? Should there be more/less sky in the background?

Is the perspective working?

Is the bud right behind the flower distracting?

How is the sharpness? I personally think it needs to be sharpened a little.

Is there anything memorable about this picture?

Hopefully this will get the ball rolling on CC here.

The flower is pretty, though I am not familiar with it. The colors are nice but the photo is a bit soft. You are right, It needs sharpening, but I don't think it will be tack sharp. I am no pro, so I can't seem to find which part of the flower you really focused on. I assume you used a 50mm prime, so it should be focused. Maybe camera shake? With the sun brightly shining, you could have used a lower ISO to reduce noise (not that it is so apparent in your shot). And yes, background is too busy it is distracting. You can easily go back to the park and take more pictures. Try to look for the sweet spot in your lens. Good luck.

All looks good to me, just the bright sky that lets it down. a slight change of angle would have helped.

All the best

Thanks for the feedback!
Yes, I used a 50mm prime. The lack of sharpness is probably due to my shaky hands (most likely) or the breeze.

I did some sharpening and edited out the bud in the background. After sharpening there was some noise so I fiddled with that too (not sure why I left ISO at 200 all day...gotta get in the habit of checking that!).

Here's what I've got. (And I accidentally did the edits on another pic almost identical to the one I originally posted.)

I don't think so. You shot at 1/2500. That's fast enough for your shaky hands and the breeze.

Good point. I guess I need to find the sweet spot with this one, then. I hear it's between 2 and 3.
