Default Vanquishing Evil

Archangel Michael

This photo was taken in Hakodate, Japan at a convent. The statue is of the archangel Michael.

Taken with:
Canon T2i
18-55mm kit lens
polarized filter
edit: adding photo details
18mm
f/3.5
1/250s
ISO 100

I upped the contrast then changed to B&W, but that's the only post that I did.

I'm wondering what you think about the bottom of the photo? I personally chose that because the original statue is stepping on a demon or the devil and I felt that this perspective almost looks like he's stepping on the viewer. It made me think about evil things that people do, even if they're small, every day and how humbling it is to look purity in the face. Especially because his face isn't angry, it's actually calm and peaceful. That's also why I liked the black and white because it made me think of good vs. evil.

However, do you think where I cut his leg out of the photo is too distracting? Or do you think it's placed appropriately? I had a friend who said she would have liked to see more of his legs, but I wasn't so sure. Now this photo is so perplexing to me.

Please let me know what you think. Also, any other comments or advice about other parts of the photo or the photo as a whole are welcome.
