Default Black & White Smoking.

Exif:
Camera Canon 550D
Exposure: 0.005 seconds
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 135 mm
ISO speed: 200
Exposure bias 0 EV
Flash off, did not fire
Exposure Mode: Auto
Focus mode: Manual
Scene capture type: Standard
B&W
I darkened the edges afterwards but i set the camera to Black and White. I just want to know how the shot looks overall and what I could do in the future to make it better. I'm only 13 so I'm just starting out at photography.

Looks like you work for Marlboro or something.

You followed the rule of thirds and you selected your focus well. I don’t like the vignette but I like the grainy finish you created.

What you were hopping to accomplish with this shot? What was your reasoning for taking it? Personally, I just see a hand and a cigarette. It doesn’t really evoke a lot of emotion except I kind of miss smoking.

Thanks. Well sorry for making you miss smoking.. It was just my dad smoking and i happened to have my camera so I just felt like taking a photo, I didn't really think at what emotion i was trying to evoke. I guess I should in the future. Thanks for your thoughts.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't knocking your photo. It is creative and seems to be done properly.

If you want to take something like that again, try lighting up a filterless cigarette. It may look a little more neat. I've always liked the filterless cigarettes in movies and photos. It's a little less distracting.

What do you think?
